Topic: Using Activity Theory to Understand Technology Use and Perception among Rural Users in Uganda

Research Focus: Her research focuses on Community Based Co-Design – a participatory Design approach/method that enables people that have limited experience with technology use & untrained in design to actively participate in Design of appropriate ICT tools.
This research has been applied in rural water management within communities in Kabarole District (Uganda)
Ms. Fiona is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Information Systems and a PhD candidate at the University of Cape Town (Center for ICT4D – Department of Computer Science).
